Teruni De Silva

Having grown up in the backdrop of Sri Lankan-Malayalam Buddhist-Anglican parents, I obtained my primary and secondary education at Ladies College’, Colombo. As an enthusiast in event organization and creative subjects from school days, I was keen to enroll myself in House Committee events and activities which enabled me to nurture my creative talents and enhance my leadership qualities at a very young age.

These were the building blocks I used during my Bachelors’ Degree at American National College where I obtained a BBA, majoring in International Business and Management. As part of my extra curriculars I held office in positions such as Vice President of the Rotaract Club of ANC in order to build my social and corporate network, however, balancing my course work to excel in the fields of marketing, international business, management and psychology which were my areas of interest at the time.

Post completion of my degree, I found myself wanting to explore some opportunities abroad, both professionally and academically, thus decided to pursue a Masters’ Degree at the University of New South Wales in Sydney, Australia. Those years were certainly the highlights of my tertiary education exposing me to more risk-tolerant fields of work, allowing me to cultivate my innate entrepreneurial abilities. The coursework was structured so that we would have to work closely with professionals from various industries and positions of management.

Upon my return to Sri Lanka and after a few years of experience at local conglomerates I ventured into launching my own brand in beauty, Club Soirté, to close the gaps evident in the industry in terms of streamlined reservations. At present I act as Managing Director of Soirté Links (Pvt) Ltd, act as a consultant for a reinsurance brokering firm and am looking to advance my career in other areas of beauty as well. I am pleased that in 2018, my brand was give the opportunity to officially partner Dialog’s 444 booking service as the exclusive provider of beauty bookings, enabling us to reach a wider audience and expand business opportunities on a larger scale.
