At the World Circular Economy Forum in Brussels, the African Development Bank highlighted Africa’s pivotal role in global circular economy efforts. With initiatives like the Africa Circular Economy Facility (ACEF) and the African Circular Economy Alliance (ACEA), they’re accelerating Africa’s transition to sustainability. Dr. Al-Hamndou Dorsouma emphasized the urgent need for this transition, given Africa’s population growth and reliance on natural resources. Strategies discussed included tailored financial solutions, sectoral support, and collaboration among stakeholders. ACEA showcased Africa’s mineral reserves, emphasizing the continent’s global impact. ACEF is the only multi-donor trust fund dedicated to mainstreaming the circular economy in Africa, while ACEA coordinates circular economy initiatives continent-wide.
