South Sudan clarifies new $350 levy on Goods Imports

The Mombasa Monitoring Station-National Revenue Authority of South Sudan clarified that only exporters and importers, not clearing agents, are required to pay the $350 levy per unit for goods destined to South Sudan. The levy is for obtaining the Electronic Cargo Tracking Note (ECTN) certificate. Importers and exporters must directly pay this fee, and it does not apply to non-South Sudanese. The Authority stated that clearing agents should not use their funds to cover the levy, and it is the responsibility of the importer or exporter.
