Zimbabwe: Upcoming Irrigation Conference, a Platform for Investor Engagement

The upcoming irrigation investment conference on July 5, 2024, will enhance irrigation development and facilitate public-private sector engagements to climate-proof agricultural production. Deputy Minister Vangelis Haritatos emphasized the conference’s role in mobilizing resources to support government irrigation efforts. With the theme ‘Public-Private Partnerships for Sustainable and Structured Irrigation Financing to deliver Food Security Everywhere, Everyday,’ the event will host farmers, investors, financial institutions, and international agencies. The aim is to expand irrigated land from 217,000 to 500,000 hectares by 2025, boosting food security and economic growth. Haritatos highlighted the potential to irrigate over two million hectares, positioning Zimbabwe as a global agricultural leader.
