The African Development Bank and Google formalized a cooperation to advance digital transformation in Africa by signing a Letter of Intent at the UN General Assembly’s Global Africa Business Initiative. This agreement highlights their shared commitment to leveraging emerging technologies, enhancing infrastructure, and refining digital skills. The African Development Bank has invested $1.9 billion in digital projects over the past decade, aiming to boost broadband infrastructure and digital startups. Google, a key partner in Africa’s digital growth since its 2005 Seacom cable investment, will provide technical assistance to entrepreneurs and SMEs. Dr. Akinwumi Adesina and Dr. James Manyika emphasized the transformative potential of AI and the importance of collaboration to ensure inclusive growth across the continent.
