India’s construction equipment (CE) industry saw a remarkable 26% growth in FY 2022-23, with sales surpassing 100,000 units, recovering from an 8% decline in FY 2021-22 due to pandemic disruptions. Key factors include rising domestic demand and substantial infrastructure projects, with earth moving equipment sales up 21% to 93,531 units, and significant gains in material handling (61%) and concrete equipment (19%). Government initiatives and a 940% increase in the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways budget have fueled this growth. Innovations like electric and hybrid machinery from companies such as Action Construction Equipment and Volvo CE India also contribute. The ICEMA forecasts India’s CE market to triple by 2030, necessitating a skilled, tech-savvy workforce.
