India’s climate tech startups are driving sustainability and aiding the country’s goal of net-zero emissions by 2070 despite facing economic challenges. With over 600 startups, including many led by women and emerging from smaller cities, innovation spans solar energy, circular economy, and industrial decarbonization. Key initiatives like the International Solar Alliance and One Sun, One World, One Grid, alongside commitments made at COP26, bolster this growth. Notable startups include Buyofuel, Ace Green Recycling, and GreenJams, which are pioneering in biofuels, battery recycling, and carbon-negative concrete, respectively. Although funding has declined, the sector’s potential remains vast, with a projected need for over $1 trillion by 2030 to meet India’s sustainability goals.
