The General Authority for Investment and Free Zones (GAFI) hosted a delegation of 24 Japanese companies in the renewable energy sector to discuss the development and localization of green energy technology. GAFI CEO Hossam Heiba stated that the government has identified sites and investment needs to achieve an additional 30 megawatts of renewable energy. Several companies have already begun investing to support Egypt’s renewable energy goals. The meeting was attended by key representatives from the Japan External Trade Organization (JETRO), Japan Bank for International Cooperation (JBIC), and Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA). GAFI aims not only to boost renewable energy production but also to localize the technology for turbines and panels used in solar and wind power plants, further enhancing Egypt’s industrial and trade capabilities in this vital sector.
